Family Holiday to Botswana & Vic Falls
Organising a holiday for your in-laws is stressful, especially overlanding through Botswana with European first timers who are not frequent campers. Coordinating all the park and campsite bookings, getting the latest info on visas and border crossings – it was all pretty daunting, but with Overland360’s help it fell into place without a hitch.
When our first-choice campsites were fully booked, Stephen went out of his way to find alternative accommodation in the area and gave expert advice on the best routes and must-see stops along the way. Once we’d finalised the itinerary all we had to do was pick up the vehicles in Joburg and hit the road, everything else – the vehicles’ paperwork for the borders, the park entrance fees, the campsite bookings, the magical night wild camping in the Okavango – everything was taken care of.
The vehicles from Avis blew Ann’s mother away. She famously doesn’t camp, but by the last week of the trip, when we had the option of spending a few nights in a lodge bed, she opted to stay in the roof tent instead. She really enjoyed sleeping up there. With the solar panels, fridge-freezer, fully-equipped kitchen, etc. etc., it was an absolute pleasure to travel with these vehicles. We did have a minor problem with the front suspension in Kasane, but one call to Stephen and the Avis rep there fixed it all, with no extra charges, and we were back on the road the same day.
All-in-all it was, for everyone, one of the best holidays we’re ever had and we’re already talking of doing it again. Huge thanks to Stephen and Overland360 for all their help and advice – I can’t recommend them highly enough.
