This luxury South African adventure starts and ends in Cape Town and explores some of South Africa’s most beautiful landscapes in the Cederberg mountains, vast Karoo Desert and along the world famous Garden Route.
Your host will be well known South African singer/songwriter/entertainer Clint Cunningham. Clint has over 30 years’ experience touring Southern Africa as an entertainer with his band Clint & Co. His love for 4×4 & off-road motorcycle adventures has furnished him with a wealth of knowledge about the region’s most fascinating destinations and spectacular roads.
Highlights include the Bushman’s Cave Mountain Theatre in the Northern Cedarberg, the stunning Seweweekspoort and Swartberg mountain passes, the hidden hamlet known as “Die Hel” in the Gamkaskloof, the beautiful coastal towns of Knysna and Hermanus, and a night at Cape Agulhas, the southernmost tip of Africa.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Cape Town, South Africa
Arrive in Cape Town
Transfer to the V&A Waterfront for dinner and briefing. Accommodation at the 4-star Victoria & Alfred Hotel.

Day 2 – Cape Peninsula
Tour the Cape Peninsula
Breakfast at the hotel followed by Cape Peninsula tour and dinner. Accommodation at the Victoria & Alfred Hotel.

Day 3 – Cape Town Winelands
Franschhoek and the Winelands
Breakfast at the V&A Hotel, followed by Cape Winelands tour and lunch at Boschendal Wine Estate In Franschhoek.

Day 4 – The Cederberg
Drive into the Cederberg
Breakfast at the hotel, Avis 4×4 pick up and depart. Drive the stunning Bainskloof Pass to Ceres for lunch then north to Clanwilliam and the Bushman’s Cave Mountain Theatre. Our host Erik De Milander will provide outdoor supper around the fire. Night under the stars in comfortable roof top tents.

Day 5 – Sutherland
Star gazing at Sutherland
Breakfast with Erik followed by a tour of the Bushman’s Cave complex to see the ancient Bushman paintings. Drive via Calvinia to Sutherland, the star gazing capital of the southern hemisphere. Accommodation at Skitterland 3-star hotel.
Supper at Ou Meule followed by star gazing.

Day 6 – The Little Karoo
The mountain passes of the Karoo
Breakfast at the hotel, then depart for Matjiesfontein for museum & Lord Milner Hotel tour. Continue to Laingsburg and then through the exceptional Seweweekspoort Mountain Pass to Calitzdorp for a Port Tasting & lunch. Over the incredible Swartberg Pass to Prince Albert. Accommodation and dinner at the Swartberg 3-star Hotel.

Day 7 – Gamkaskloof
Gamkaskloof and “Die Hel”
Breakfast at the hotel, then depart for the tiny hidden hamlet of Gamkaskloof also known as “Die Hel” – a hidden gem with an exceptional history. 70kms of exciting 4×4 driving with 2 river crossings. Accommodation – rooftop tents under the stars. Supper around the fire with Clint.

Day 8 – Oudtshoorn
Elephant and Ostrich experience
Simple breakfast and an early start towards Oudtshoorn. Elephant experience at Buffelsdrift followed by lunch in Oudtshoorn and an Ostrich farm visit. Continue over the beautiful Outeniqua Pass to Fancourt Hotel in George: Choice of 5-star hotel or camping at Victoria Bay. Supper at the hotel or around the fire with Clint.

Day 9 – Baviaanskloof
4×4 through Baviaanskloof
Breakfast at Fancourt then over the Montague Pass for lunch in Willowmore. On to Baviaanskloof, a wonderful 4×4 route with several river crossings. Accommodation in roof top tents in the gorge and dinner around the fire with Clint.

Day 10 – Garden Route
From Baviaanskloof to the Garden Route
Simple breakfast in the kloof then continue on to Patensie and along the world famous Garden Route. Accommodation for the night at the exceptional Mount Knysna 5-star hotel. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 11 – Knysna
Rest day in Knysna
Rest in Knysna to include shopping and a lagoon cruise. All meals at the hotel.

Day 12 – Cape Agulhas
Cape Agulhas
Breakfast at the hotel. Early start from Knysna along the Garden Route including the famous 7 Passes Road to George. On to Mossel Bay for lunch and then across the Malagas Pont/Ferry to Cape Agulhas, the southernmost tip of Africa. Accommodation and diner at the 4-star Agulhas Country Lodge.

Day 13 – Hermanus
Gansbaai to Hermanus
Breakfast at the hotel then depart for Hermanus via Gansbaai. Beautiful driving along the coast to accommodation for the night at the 4-star Misty Waves Boutique Hotel.

Day 14 – Hermanus
Whale watching in Hermanus
Rest day in Hermanus. Whale watching / shopping. Lunch at the Bot Rivier Hotel.

Day 15 – Cape Town
Return to Cape Town along the R44
Breakfast at the hotel then return to Cape Town via the magnificent Kleinmond / Rooi-Els road to Gordons Bay and back to the V&A Waterfront. Accommodation qnd dinner at the V&A Hotel.

Day 16 – Cape Town
Rest day in Cape Town
Breakfast at the hotel, then a day in Cape Town for shopping / cable car up Table Mountain. Meals and accommodation at the V&A Hotel.

Day 17 – Fly Home
Fly home
Breakfast at the hotel then transfer to airport for return flights.
